Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese healing art rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 1800’s in Japan that means “Universal Life Force”. It is believed to be an ancient practice based in Tibetan Buddhist texts.

Is it safe?

Reiki is non-invasive and has no side effects. Anyone can learn to practice Reiki and it can be performed anywhere. There are no complicated techniques. It is natural, can be done discreetly and is done fully clothed while sitting, standing, or laying down.

How does it work?

In order to restore balance and harmony to the human energy system and accelerate the body’s own natural healing ability, energy flows through the hands of the practitioner as the recepient draws it in. Healing occurs physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically and spiritually.

How can it benefit me?

Reiki provides a feeling of relaxation, balance, and well-being. It is especially beneficial for caregivers and those who help others both professionally and personally. It can help relieve pain, reduce stress and tension, accelerate healing and support the immune system. Reiki can help provide relief from distress in your home, hospital and hospice settings whether your troubles are mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual. Best of all, it is good for all ages and degrees of health. Both humans and animals can enjoy this relaxing healing energy work.

Reiki is a perfect complementary therapy to use in addition to traditional western medicine. As my teacher said, “Not either or but both and more”. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose or prescribe treatment for illnesses, mental or psychological issues or conditions. Always consult your regular healthcare professional in addition to applying Reiki.
